IBM Technote Access Changes – What You Need to Know

24 · 07 · 25

Are you aware that, from 22nd June 2025, access to IBM’s Troubleshooting, Q&A, and How-To documents — known as Technotes — will become restricted?

IBM has confirmed that these Technotes will only be accessible to users with an active IBM Support & Subscription (S&S) agreement, linked directly to their IBMid.

  • This means:
  • If your IBM S&S agreement lapses or you choose not to renew, you will no longer be able to access this critical technical guidance — not even via Google search.
  • These documents, which historically helped many users self-diagnose and resolve issues, will be hidden behind a login available only to supported users.
  • This change affects IBM Planning Analytics (TM1), Controller, and other IBM software platforms.

What does this mean for you?

If your organisation manages its IBM support directly with IBM, and you opt out of renewing your S&S:

  • You could lose access to essential troubleshooting content that your internal team may have relied on.
  • You may find it increasingly difficult to resolve issues independently, as error codes and technical scenarios will no longer be searchable through public sources.
  • The efficiency of your in-house IT or finance systems support may be affected.
